<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">This blog deals with issue of exchange connector which results in stop error message. Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes stops with given error<span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></span></span>message:</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">“<em>Error opening mailbox domain/server!! Exchange.bad”</em></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">This peculiar behavior might occur when you start the MS Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes. At the time of unseen problem, the Convert and Transfer processes is displayed as stopped in the Exchange Connectivity Administrator program.<span id="more-71"></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Reason behind this issue is presence of corrupted Exchange.bad mailbox on the Lotus Notes server or absence of Exchange.bad mailbox. The Exchange.bad mailbox is created throughout installation of the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes. However, in some cases the file is not created and an attempt to create the Exchange.bad mailbox may not work.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">To workaround this issue, add a mail router mailbox for Exchange.bad to the Notes desktop. For this, go with the following steps:</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">On the <strong>File</strong> menu, click 	<strong>Database</strong>, and then click <strong>New</strong>.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">In the <strong>Template</strong> list, click 	<strong>Mail Router Mailbox</strong>.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">In the <strong>Title</strong> box, type 	<strong>Exchange Bad Mail</strong> to name the file.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">In the <strong>File Name</strong> box, type 	<strong>exchange.bad</strong>.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Click <strong>OK</strong> to save the 	changes.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">In the C:\Notes\Data folder, 	verify that the Exchange.bad file exists.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Restart the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes service.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Perform easy and flawless email migration from Lotus <a title="Notes to Exchange" href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/">Notes to Exchange</a> using sophisticated Kernel for Lotus <a title="Notes to Exchange" href="../../">Notes to Exchange</a> email migration software.</p>

</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Lotus Notes lets mobile users to access the emails in their Inbox remotely via VPN or webmail similar to Windows remote access</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Offers highly secure 	region for conducting confidential email communication- a definite 	benefit over MS Outlook environment</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>

</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Drawbacks faced while working on Lotus Notes</span></span></p>
<ul>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Clumsily designed user 	interface like that in MS Outlook 97</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Awkward navigation 	(kind of Netscape browser from 90s)</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Any kind of workgroup creation, email addition or changes required can be performed only if the user has administrative support staff (biggest drawback so far)</span></span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Domino and Lotus Notes needs to be updated and backed up for optimal processing (that is not imperative while working in MS Outlook and Exchange Server)</span></span></span></p>
</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Usually, considering MS Outlook, it’s a lot more easier when it comes to navigation, offers flexibility to work, easy to understand interface, offers proper permissions to allow creation of public folders and share emails and contacts (unlike in Lotus Notes). In addition to this, you need to have expert help through Notes server for number of things. What more, due to limited user base of Lotus Notes, software updates are available at longer time periods. </span></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">This is the reasons why there are number of users who switch perform <strong><a title="Notes to Exchange" href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/">Notes to Exchange</a></strong> migration. If you have decided to migrate, use advanced Notes to Exchange migration tool to perform <strong><a title="Notes to Exchange" href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/">Notes to Exchange</a></strong> conversion. </span></span></span></p>

It is quite common situation that you come across when task information is not migrated properly and completely during Lotus Notes to exchange migration. This happens when you export Lotus Notes profile user’s email messages, calendar information and task information from calendar to Exchange 2000 Server with the use of Migration Wizard for Exchange 2000. <p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">It is quite common situation that you come across when task information is not migrated properly and completely during Lotus <strong><a title="Notes to Exchange" href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/">Notes to exchange</a></strong> migration. <span id="more-59"></span>This happens when you export Lotus Notes profile user’s email messages, calendar information and task information from calendar to Exchange 2000 Server with the use of Migration Wizard for Exchange 2000. During Notes to Exchange migration, some migrated users complain that their tasks got migrated to their Outlook Tasks folders. </span></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">The reason behind this issue is that the Migration Wizard exports only the tasks that were included in Lotus Notes calendar. However, it works differently while migrating tasks for Lotus Notes. In order to resolve this issue, follow the procedure given below on the tasks for migrating calendar items. </span></span></span></p>
<ol>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Open your Notes 	mailbox in Notes 4.6x client</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Change 	to the “To-Do” folder</span></span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Open the task that was 	not migrated</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Now click the Display task on my calendar button. Button will then change to Remove from calendar</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Save the task</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Run Migration Wizard 	for Exchange 2000 again, the task is migrated to Exchange 2000</span></span></p>
</li>
</ol>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">If you don’t get successful this way, then opt for third party tool for Notes to Exchange migration. Dealing with incomplete migration often results in loss of important data. Hence it is recommended that whenever you need to perform <strong><a title="Notes to Exchange" href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/">Notes to Exchange</a></strong> migration, switch to professional third party tools.</span></span></span></p>

We know that data migration initiative becomes imperative with latest technology coming in, but the most important thing is data migration is also full of risks and challenges such as loss of data integrity, unreliable quality and data loss. All this often happens due to applications used for migration of data. Majority of problems arise due to inadequate knowledge of migration and proper understanding of migration methodology as well as tools used for execution. What more, Notes to Exchange migration is often neglected and an under-estimated activity. </span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Lack of detailed documentation, heavily maintained application, large codes and data, murky application platforms result in data loss situation that is obviously not good for your organization. Therefore while migrating from one application platform to another always ensure that you have enough knowledge of both platforms, database structure, compatibility environment etc, so that you don’t lose vital business data just with a single mistake. Always make sure that the application you are switching to meets the following scenarios:</span></span></p>
<ul>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Portability/mobility</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Connectivity</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">All-time availability of 	data</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Proficiently piled up data 	for ease in access</span></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Easy-to-manage database</span></span></p>
</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Use third party <strong><a title="Lotus Notes to Exchange" href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/">Lotus Notes to Exchange</a></strong> migration tool for migrating from Lotus Notes to Exchange. Kernel for NSF to PST is an effective tool for migration of data from Lotus Notes to Exchange. </span></span></p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">There was a time when Lotus Notes and Domino Server were the first choice of organizations as an email client and email server.<span id="more-42"></span> But, with the release of Exchange Server 2003, the choice of most of the users started changing. Organizations now prefer using MS Outlook and MS Exchange Server as email client and email server respectively than Lotus Notes and Domino Server. Following are some of the reasons due to which organizations are migrating from Lotus Notes to Exchange:</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Lotus Notes has compatibility issues with some of the third-party software applications, which interrupts users in their work.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">User interface of MS Outlook is much easier to understand than the user interface of Lotus Notes; therefore, organizations do not need to spend lots of money on employees training.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">There are many third-party tools available in the market that enable you to perform <a href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/"><strong>Lotus Notes to Exchange</strong></a> migration. But, those tools can work as add on and rely on the Exchange Notes Connector (a utility from Microsoft that helps performing Notes to Exchange migration). Therefore, you must have good knowledge about using Exchange Notes Connector along with the third-party <a href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/"><strong>Notes to Exchange</strong></a> migration tool. Why do you use two different and difficult utilities when users’ mailboxes from Domino Server can be migrated to Exchange Server using a single utility?</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Kernel for Lotus Notes to Outlook is an efficient, affordable, and reliable <strong>Notes to Exchange migration</strong> tool, which does not rely on any software application. The software works as a separate utility and provides you the easiest platform to convert .nsf files into .pst files and to migrate the users’ mailboxes directly from Domino Server to Exchange Server. Kernel for Lotus Notes to Outlook supports all versions of Lotus Notes, Domino Server, Outlook, and Exchange Server.</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Email migration can be termed as a process of transfer of email data between different email client, format or computer systems. <span id="more-36"></span>Usually, email migration is performed when users or organizations feel the need of upgrading to newer email clients. Performing email migration can be a gruesome task and might force you to face numerous problems related to Lotus Notes to Outlook migration. </span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">One of a common issue that arises while migrating from <strong><a href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/">Lotus Notes to Exchange</a></strong> is the problem of incorrect message routing while migrating. The reason behind this issue are the malfunctioning connectors that result in inefficient or incorrect message routing when messages are queued on the bridgehead server. Additionally, non-delivery reports (NDRs) are a sign of incorrect message routing. </span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Message loops are created if messages are routed multiple number of times through the same server. The Exchange Server then adds trace information to all transferred messages for detecting message loops and drop looping messages with non-delivery report (NDRs). In case the message’s path includes multiple systems the trace information might be lost during the message conversion between systems consequently causing message to loop indefinitely. </span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal;" align="JUSTIFY"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">This issue of incorrect routing while migrating from <strong><a href="http://www.notes-to-exchange-migration.com/">Notes to Exchange</a></strong> may result in flood of emails similar to the ones caused due to worms or viruses and therefore it is important to ensure such loopholes. Therefore performing migration with Kernel for Lotus Notes to Outlook is the best option to carry out safe and easy migration without any loopholes or issues. </span></span></p>
